ASCI is sponsoring the 3rd Edition of the International Akoma Dance Spirit Festival which seeks to promote African-rooted dance and music talent whilst encouraging love, peace, tolerance and unity within the local, regional and global dance community.
The name of the Festival came from Akoma which is an Akan word and symbol, a native language from Ghana. The word is ambiguous and translates to heart, patience and tolerance.
The Festival aims at celebrating the African culture and promoting the diversity which represents Africa.
The Event is organized to provide the local community and dancers from all around the world an opportunity to discover and connect with the African continent which has been at the origin of several kind of dances.
IADSF will provide a special music and dance experience by bringing to Johannesburg a selection of word-class artists known in the Afro-Latin International scene.
Therefore, the line-up of artists tends to be a mix of Local and International Artists coming from South Africa but also from Ghana, Togo, Kenya, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Norway – to name a few- here to share their knowledge and skills of afro-latin dances.
